B301 Physical Sciences Laboratory Refurbishment

Client: Curtin University
Architect: Geyer
Contract sum: $1.7m

This project was the first laboratory refurbishment in the building since it was built 50 years ago, ensuring that there were a good deal of unknowns to be overcome during the construction phase.

As well as the fit out of the labs, the works included a new communications room, communications infrastructure throughout the building and extensive new mechanical plant.

The building is host to leading-edge, sensitive, calibrated research equipment, a research team made up of international scientists, and teaching facilities. A collaborative approach was required to meet the key project objectives, with communication the key to ensuring business as usual for staff and students within the building.

The end result was the project delivered on time with a high quality of finish and minimal disruptions to operations.
